Hello fellow artisans, zaryans and whoever else lurks this site!
Due to MyBB being bad and the lack of good alternatives that do not cost millions in cash, we have decided to temporarily shut down the club. The Dev has already started working on a replacement for MyBB two weeks ago and shall be ready in the near future. When the time comes, we shall reopen the site in its new glory.
We shall shut down OCGemerald.club this sunday. We are giving time for the individuals who wish to archive the current form of this site.

We have decided to extend rule 4 to include racebait to a limited extent. That's racebait of ANY kind, be it white or brown. We used to tolerate it because it was a kind of sharty culture and a majority of the offenders weren't even giving the racebait any further thought beside it being an innocent joke. It has become apparent, however, that the loud minority of racebait posters are genuine off-siter degenerates who are only trying to stir up trouble. Racebait threads will be moved to /drenthe/. Racebait intended to derail high-effort threads/posts will be dealt with based on janny discretion. Context will always be taken into account, and fun will not be outlawed.

On the topic of hostile off-siters – we've been VERY tolerating of them, and tried to not interfere much due to hoping the true Zarty userbase would be able to deal with falseflags and bait. It has become apparent that with the influx of newer users (a good thing) the average capability to spot and deal with bait has plummeted (a bad thing). We've recently been experimenting with just banning them on sight, but leaving their moronic bait up. This, however, might still be seen as a win by them, considering discussion still ends up getting started due to their posts, resulting in Zaryans falling for it again. I personally propose deleting obvious bait on sight, as to not give these pricks the attention they crave. I'm nothing if not reasonable, so this (and maybe some other) decision could be withdrawn if enough (real) Zaryans complain about it.

The moderation team has slowly shrunk recently. Only the most trustworthy and rational jannies remain. Not only that, but I've also employed an even more strict approach to janny interaction on the Zarty. I hope you trust our objectivity when we point out hostile off-siters. I'm sure you're all aware they use contentious topics to divide us among each other to try and cause unrest and mistrust, like jews. The most important thing is to stay aware, and stay united.

Regarding Zellig art – we pride ourselves on being the go-to place for all things Zellig (and Soyzellig). We, on the other hand, do NOT appreciate archiving Zellig p'. What had been considered inappropriate has been a contentious topic as well.
Relating to the racebait point – we've tolerated slightly risqué/suggestive media being posted for archival purposes, as well as expecting that, if everyone's mature enough to not get riled up by the media, there's no reason to "burn the books", or silence real and perhaps simply careless Zaryans. The way things will go from here on out is that if sex-appeal or a fetish is the focal point of a post or piece of media uploaded to the zarty, it will be deleted without fanfare.

The posts which have already been on the Zarty before this decree will not be retroactively deleted or their posters punished. There's a clear divide between Old and Nu Zarty and its history shouldn't be forgotten, as to not have to relearn from old mistakes. Hiding these mistakes is a sign of weakness and stagnancy.

Here's a touchy subject: VPNs and IP cloaks. We respect each Zaryan's privacy and have never even considered using any information posted on the Zarty in a malicious manner. This is why VPNs HAVE been allowed on the Zarty so far. The WORST hostile off-siter offenders (such as spammers, DDOSers, foodists, and falseflaggers), however, abuse our generosity whenever possible, and besides twisting our words and rules' phrasing to spark discontent, they use the convenience of proxies to obsessively ban-evade for hours upon hours on end every few days. We would appreciate it if you could understand us temporarily disallowing VPNs whenever these bad actors rear their ugly heads.
IP cloaks… We've considered implementing this many times, but always ran into bumps in the road which resulted in their implementation failing, being flawed, or simply being postponed. I intend to get them working properly with the help of our resident developer, who is currently swamped with helping Zoot recreate OCG.

Guess who lol
Howdy neighbors. So let's get the most important thing out of the way. Zoot has appointed me co-admin of the Zarty. I've known Zoot for about a year now and he has shown a lot of trust in me during that time. He was of the opinion that I am way more active and familiar with the day-to-day environment of the Zarty. Zoot has, for a while now, found himself often having to be informed on the latest nonsense that his userbase is arguing about, or the latest boogeyman that we are meant to keep an eye out for. Therefore, he had decided to delegate the overseeing and maintaining of the Zarty to me while he directed his focus on other projects, such as animation, his career, and studying art, as well as helping with development of the ocgemerald club. At the end of the day, I still answer to him. He has just entrusted me to try and maybe improve the website if possible, and due to my immense respect for him, I intend to do my best to accomplish just that. Addressing the ddos of two days ago, the excessive downtime was due to GoDaddy being obsessed, even long after the ddos stopped. We are off of them now and we have systems in place to defend against attacks. In a way the timing was convenient since we had planned to migrate the server that day, I apologize for it taking long however we needed to insure everything was set up properly. If you notice any bugs or things that could be optimized, feel free to say so in /q/
