Wait a minute, "pippi longstocking"?. I'd recognise that name anywhere! You mean to tell me that massa was hiding a key figure in scandinavian literature and culture all along?

>so coco would cook for us that evening and i had locked myself in my room. but instead of beating me up or at least starving me she just brought the food upstairs and apologized for ruining MY valentine's day.
She also talks about how "Coco would get angry" and the doc mentions pent-up anger, yup Coco is a raging bitch

maya deserves every ounce of abuse she gets and coco is a saint for not doing it more often

Keep in mind that the diary is from Maya's perspective. She perceives Coco as a patronizing and antagonisitc.
I think Coco is just naive, lacking understanding of how Maya feels and a bit socially unaware. Of course she has trauma from losing her original family and sometimes that trauma outs itself, mabye in violence.

Meds this is just maya feeling guilty and thinking that she deserves to be punished in some way by Coco. She overthinks everything and that includes Coco getting really angry if she didn't go to the party. Coco would be sad in reality but Maya can't fathom that.

she has anger issues you can see it in the pilot and some of the art and confirmed in massas lore dump yesterday, in general she is still a kind person though who means no harm to her sisters or anyone else

imagine that you put your time and energy into trying to help your sister simply pass high school as she is totally unable to do it herself, in return she is cold and distant and bitchy and eventually insults you for being an orphan, would you react patiently or impulsively? while what she did was wrong it is completely understandable and she felt guilt and remorse for it while maya never truly felt remorseful for what she did

maya and coco are both flawed and have made mistakes the difference is coco feels actual remorse and apologizes for it and maya stews in her self pity and thinks everyone else is evil

all three sisters struggle with their own identity crisis. I would summarize them as such: Maya, inferiority complex; Coco, ptsd; Mymy, racial imposter syndrome.

every good character ever has a main moral strength and weakness, maya has no moral strength which probably would have been fixed later but since the series is over she will be a bad character forever

I wouldn't say having no moral strength makes Maya a bad character. Maya is an excellent character that many teens relate and young adults relate to.

Humility fits Maya to some extent tbh. Say as a CocoDEITY though. But yeah it's only “to some extent” and not complete

Humility may be right for her, because in the future she will change for the better and will value her non-biological sisters like family.

UPD: I even have to say that Maya synthesizes envy and humility in one nondescript feeling.

she is a symbol of having a bad personality and if you relate to her your only takeaway should be that its you who are the problem and you need to change

Yeah, and I assume that throughout a proper Ongezellig show, Maya's path of improvement would be shown and hopefully inspire those who relate to her.

This also goes for Coco and Mymy btw. A probable story line includes them al being confronted with their identity crisis and them slowly making improvements and the conclusion of Ongezellig having the trauma of all characters be resolved.

Don't think so. Rather vice verse, she's being ostracized by herself.

...I'll continue. Let's analyze “Ik Ben Het Maar” for better understanding:
>Don't talk to me (humility), together I feel more alone (envy)
>Forget my name (humility), you and I have nothing in common (envy)
>There is no point in introducing me (humility)
>I know my place, in a long line, in the back (humility(+envy?))
>I know myself (envy), and I don't recommend her to anyone (humility)
>She's worth ignoring for good (envy)
>I always said I was different from the rest (envy(+humility?))
>Now I stay quiet (humility), before I ruin your mood (envy)
>I'm getting addicted to isolating myself (humility)
>The free time in which I did not enjoy myself (envy+humility)
>The memories I have never experienced (envy)
>Am I traumatizing myself? (fear)
>Don't mind me it's only me (humility)
>See right though me (humility)
>I'd much rather die than go out (humility)
>So please leave me alone (humility)
>Don't perceive me (humility)
>It's only me (humility).
I think it's enough to understand my point.

Maya is not humble and it is not humility, it is humilitation which is different. Humility is recognizing your own worth while not becoming obsessed with it and putting equal focus on yourself and on others, it is not thinking you are worthless and pathetic while actually becoming even more self centered because you refuse to interact with other people
