there are Subways in Noord-Brabant, so theoretically she could work at a subway.
why do you think they live in brabant. From when I mailed massa asking about location he left it open saying there isn't any particular province they lived in as that would restrict the imagination of the story too much. However personally I think overijsel matches the feel of ongezellig the best.

Maya has a Brabant Accent, and both her and her father are from Brabant, plus Maya was born in Baarle-Nassau, Noord Brabant, Netherlands. and they also went to Efteling Park, but I think that's more of a Dutch thing than just Brabant.
but hey, Massa is from Limburg, so who knows, plus we aren't given a town name, so it could be Waalwijk or Hillegom

It is not unusual for dutch families to move away to a different part of the country because of work.
Also pretty much every family from all over the country with kids has gone to the Efteling, it's a typical thing so that fact does not support any claim either way.
The main reason why I think it is unlikely that the show takes place in Brabant is how Maya says "ik kom uit brabant eigenlijk" If they all still lived in brabant near her birthplace this would be a weird way of her saying this and if they lived in brabant it doesn't make much sense for coco to confuse maya being born in belgium if they still lived there.
I think it makes more sense that they moved out of brabant before or around the same time coco and mymy were adopted, so the confusions make more sense in with this context.

Belgium does have two Brabants; Flemish Brabant, Walloon-Brabant, and with Coco being from South Africa she could've got confused, because she was under stress and she could've just not cared in that part of her class (I don't know about this), but they could live much farther away then Baarle-Nassau, plus I don't think Massa would have picked a real place. He probably made a generic Dutch town for them to live in.
But if we want to get technical we could analyze the environment around and figure it out, mainly through the archicture and vegetation.
Note:Nice to know Efteling is similar to an amusement part we have here in the Midwest United States, cause everyone has gone their at lease once, I've been their 3 time, so Efteling is like Cedar Point minus the theming.
Maya being Brabantian and clarifying it to Coco because she (and Mymy) fail to make the Walloon/Northern Brabant distinction does raise that the current Schoppenboer household isn't in Baarle-Nassau. Or it could just be another inside joke for Dutchies for all we know
It is a joke since two different regions can be referred to as brabant, but with many other things in ongezellig the jokes are still based on a truth of the lore. The joke doesn't make sense if it is assumed that they lived in brabant, because a situation like that wouldn't occur. The mind-state of coco is that she heard maya was born in brabant and thinks of the belgian brabant instead of the dutch, therefore thinks she was born in belgium, if they lived in brabant coco would know the province they lived and not assume the other brabant.
Furthermore it wouldn't be said that maya was born in brabant but rather maya was born in baarle-nassau in the case it was brought up with the implicit understanding that she was born in the same province as they currently are. If they lived in a different province it would be said that maya was born in brabant with the city being possibly mentioned too, but that is a forgettable detail in a conversation.

Maya gets dragged to a running in the 60s rehearsal. Yfke offers her some weed to deal with her anxiety. Maya enjoys the experience, but becomes even more non-productive than before. She kicks the habit with help, but is saddened at the realization that she may have to chose between being a social outcast and a junkie going forward.
