Im totally fine, it's just that I'm at a bottleneck with a chapter im writing because i feel it's necessary (includes sjef, koos, goof, yfke, and wiel). i always have progress daily, whether it's a hundred words or three thousand, it's just that i felt like drawing today

No because it's a trace from a movie (Coalson alert) and ended up the same as 2_pointing_soyjaks except in a fraction of the time, therefore it's coal

Notice Plier and Feral and Bernd, they work because they made fun of people that happened to have cartoonish characteristics
With Cobson when he originally unveiled he wasn't well-liked, the term HWABAG was only forced by those who liked him for him to be more accepted
Cobson's invention was a major turning point in soyculture
But for me personally traced 'jaks from real people work more becauze you could pinpoint who they make fun on IRL
Zaryan No.134596
>>134595
Decent observation. Something else to note is that Feral, Bernd, and Alicia are extremely easy to use as mockery. However, Cobson never caught on as a tool of mockery with the noted exception of Spadeson, but you could argue that putting an ace of spades on anyone is a good enough tool of mockery.
Zaryan No.134599

It was only after he became a subvariant that he started catching on, but there was a catch. If you had to be a subvariant instead of standing on your own merits, maybe your 'jaks wasn't a gem in the first place.

i did not just freestyle this, i had a vision for the basic plot (vera meets a former student, hijinks ensue), then tried to make sure everything else connected. everything was already set in my mind what the story would be, it's just the execution of it where i was truly free.

i think i wanna cancel this project because i opened libreoffice writer yesterday to natively transport my manuscript from Gdocs to it (so I can transcribe it for the ebook format of my book) but then i got overwhelmed by how fucking difficult it looks. i looked at the forums how to use templates, and i tried LatEx too and it was all equally confusing. i typed almost everything in my book from my fucking phone on GDocs so I got bottlenecked with how to move forward ever since i made the epub and abandoned it and i'm here thinking i spent three months and counting wasting away on a project no one will really read. my beta reader did leave me comments but im yet to receive a full review of what he truly thinks, and that he told me he doesn't have a deadline for when it will truly come, that zaryan who wanted to be a beta reader when he emailed me flaked on me, and a third guy wanted to be one only if i was paying him for it (im broke as shit, also getting paid to read?? wtf). i still want to do one thing to keep myself motivated. later today, i'll go to a printershop with a copy of my manuscript to have it all printed in the flesh to see what i really got. hopefully seeing physical results of what i've gotten so far can still rile me up. at least i'd have something to show myself. i really don't want to feel this was all for nothing.

i hate to say that you might be right with this one
the issue isnt the quality of the writing, but who it's about. people read fanfic to look more into their favorite characters, in this case being the sisters. yeah vera is liked, but she's not exactly the character that people are dying to see.
not saying you have to scrap it, but if you want to start anew, writing about the sisters is probably your best bet
>all for nothing
it clearly isn't, because even if it wasn't what you wanted it to be, you ended up learning a very valuable lesson of not biting off more than you can chew (which is a lesson you can only learn by doing exactly that)
Zaryan No.135933
>>135932
Vera is for people over the age of 30, which aren't many, it'd be worth to see how Vera develops AFTER the sisters eventually go their own way
Zaryan No.135934
>>135933
i personally think her interactions with the sisters would the the most interesting
Zaryan No.135937
File: 1784507286083.png (1.90 MB, 1726x2309, ClipboardImage.png)
It's a Vera-centric novel. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to pigeonhole the sisters on the side to match a story that revolves around her. Still, I had to concede by adding Maya and Coco in a flashback (my beta reader was, quote, 'soyjacking' when he finally got to that part that I can only interpret as fan service, and Mymy at the appendix to at least attach the sisters organically). But I chose to write a story that specifically has the disguise of a fanfiction when it's a YA/A novel in essence. The register is nothing you'd find on AO3, and I've already read a lot of dogshit Zellig fics there. writerfail (and maybe pnegpng) are the only AO3 fanfic authors who can actually meet your expectations, but what I'm doing is an entirely different thing. An actual novel, breaking 70k words, carrying the continuation genre centred on the peripheral teacher character. Yes, it hurts that nobody would read it probably, but if it catches a niche, well, that's how Massa got to us, didn't he? A friend (not a beta reader, but he's reading my current manuscript) told me that my book reads as if Massa himself continued the series via writing, and that means a lot to me.
<revengespace
I can't just release the entire thing now, because I overlooked one key worldbuilding factor in my manuscript and I'm back to the drawing board, but this story is what I believe one worth telling, and if my beta reader says exploring moral greys via Ongezellig fan literature is something worth considering, then perhaps I shouldn't just throw it all away.
>>135932
This story is exactly what I want it to be. It just fucking sucks this fandom has been infiltrated by tweens younger than my time playing fucking Dota (I've played it since 2008) so I'm clearly not writing for them. The real question is, am I also writing for >>(You)?
>>135933
Exactly. Actually, in my novel she's 48, way older and makes way more sense. The sisters going their own way is implicit but I focused on the other classmates (besides Rens, Sjef and Yfke in particular based on whatever information I have on them), so writing about Vera as an adult instead of the sisters as adult was my priority. Not saying that I'm incapable of writing the sisters as adults, since Maya would be as old as I am if the pilot took place in 2019 for example, but I chose not to do it. Yet.
>>135934
Well, I wrote a reason why she doesn't. But fuck, I really just want this fucking book to be done with so you guys can actually fucking read it
