What made zellig interesting back in the day wasnt the fact that the pilot was ok. If you dig into the massa rabbit hole, you'd quickly realize that the show on its own was mostly doomed. Massa wasnt an agartha tzar surrounded by bad ((((bolyars)))) (this idea came from the chudyverse, paragraph below) and the show had a high chance of turning into liberal post modern bullcrap. Also the pilot took a lot of time to make and he just wanted to move on.

The zellig community on the sharty (and sometimes on /co/, but that place was goonbait most of the time) was the main attraction. People basically would intentionally misinterpret the pilot as being this nordic ss gigachad masterpiece that would save the west and would make things up. It turned into its own "chudyverse" (basically a parody) and it was fun to expand this chudyverse when massa dropped a new art piece.

If Ongezellig was somehow picked up by a studio and put on television, it wouldnt matter that much imo whether or not the show would turn into "troonslop". For the zarty, it would mean more content to chudify for the gegs, the zarto-/co/ wars lasting a longer and in general the site would be different (how much i cant say, but prob would be better than what site turned out to be).

I disagree with this, for an animation it stands on its own and the additional content tells you enough to make you complete the story yourself and theory-craft about the possible ending. The community is the cherry on top, we are possibly the only group on the internet that is this way out in public, and no /co/ would have ACKed due to 4chan becoming a total DNB, last time I went there it had ~50 pph on major boards geg. Now we mostly interact and react mostly with what is thrown our way, we had to defeat many groups to come where we are now

The animation does stand out (story wise it wasnt perfect and was a bit nihilistic in the end), but it wasnt something revolutionary and "telling you enough to make your own story" or "theory-crafting the ending" isnt a quality of the pilot itself, thats you making stuff up, to put it bluntly. It was just one pilot and some art, nothing really substantial or developed, only potential.

the main reason people stayed long term was the community. it wasnt just the cherry on top; personally i would have never watched it if it wasnt tied to the sharty, its a dutch cartoon, i dont speak dutch or was not interested in holland by itself. Even Mymy (and ig the other two) being racist came from the sharty.

The /co/ part is sort of true, but still doesnt change the fact that the war would have likely lasted longer (how longer i have no clue). After february, /co/ was gone.

I think you're really overseeing just how much hidden content and things we went through, I personally enjoyed getting to know every detail of how the animation came to be, the ideas behind and then eventually finding mayamails, which gave much needed details. The community is of course the thing I love the most and it's why we keep sticking together, in spite of what some people would want

I was gonna say something more, but than i realized that long term, even if chuds had more content to chudify, the site would have ended up in the same shitshow that it is in rn anyway. Only difference is people getting too attached to a finished show, instead of a finished pilot (which was never the highlight, nobody would have cared about a dutch speaking pilot in here if it wasnt for the sharty, i 90% grantee you that; unless massa's cord isnt a police state anymore or reddit isnt reddit).
