Several studies indicate that men tend to overlook certain personality flaws or behaviors when they are strongly attracted to a woman’s physical appearance. Research by Buss and Schmitt (1993) suggests that men are more likely to compromise on psychological compatibility when the partner possesses traits like beauty, which have been traditionally linked to evolutionary advantages.

In many cases, when an attractive woman exhibits dysfunctional behavior, it can become fetishized or romanticized. Behaviors that might otherwise be considered negative or repulsive are reframed through a sexual lens, particularly when the woman is conventionally beautiful. For example, behaviors such as poor hygiene, emotional instability, or excessive impulsivity can be interpreted as "quirky" or "seductive" when paired with physical attractiveness.

The "Maya's stinky armpits" guy is an example of this.

Almost as if beauty justifies emotional instability or dysfunctional behavior. For some men (including my transbian ass), pursuing relationships with highly attractive but emotionally unstable women is seen as socially acceptable or even desirable.

So I'm stuck wondering: would you guys love Maya as you do if she wasn't pretty? Because I've seen antisocial and reclusive women in real life and they have not been good-looking, but if they had been, I personally would have overlooked their mental problems to a great extent. As a matter of fact I've done it before with attractive ones.

Some psychological theories suggest that men may be drawn to dysfunctional women because of a “rescue fantasy.” In this dynamic, men perceive themselves as capable of "fixing" or "saving" women from their dysfunctional behaviors or emotional struggles.

This is where the "I can save her" shit comes from, but that is tangential to the point.

There may also be the possibility that you don't think of Maya as dysfunctional, in which case I would ask you: if she was ugly would you date her or be accepting of her behavior? Do you yourself live a neet/antisocial life? Not judging, I've been a lonely nusoioompaloompa for most of my life.
