Gem, even the oc is a fitting addition, for once the predditors are right to call it “peak”, too bad it’s inevitable that some ‘cord faggotry rips it apart and it’s cancelled out of spite.

Good artstyle but there's seriously too much text it feels like reading a leftist meme

Id still read it if there was more, but it’s something I’d skim through instead of actually read

It's not offensive and it's decent to look at, and it's true to everyone's character.

The OC in question actually makes sense, being another teacher at the school. 90% of OCs are "guy who bangs the girls" or "girl I want to bang", so this is a welcome change.

This comic is making me reconsider of turning my light novel into an artbook of sorts. Zellig cannot solely exist in the text

yeah but drawing takes so long id say keep working in the way youre used to so you dont burn out and quit out of spite like massa

The manuscript itself is taking so much out of me. But I'm running on passion and free time Massa didn't have, and since I'm out of college in about a week, my focus will be unparalleled

What if you complete the text first and then do the comic, so at least you don't burn out

>I am planning on fully reviving Ongezellig over the course of many months/years
How many have said this and all of them failed, so I don't expect this to break from the trend. But there is at least some result, better than ROY achieved with a dozen contributors.
One thing is that some of the faces look copy-pasted from existing material, or at least traced from it, it makes it look slightly uncanny since I recognize the scenes they are from, that takes away from the immersion. The problem is trying to imitate Massa's style too literally which results in copying without understanding. I don't understand why the artist took this approach because other panels clearly showed that they are able to draw well.
The story is fine, but it lacks jokes, Ongezellig as it is in the deels is primarily a comedy, in the comic there wasn't anything particularly attempting to be funny.

I do recognize that comedy is harder in comic form than in animation because the medium lacks modes of comedic expression that video has such as tone and timing, but that is stuff the artist needs to be aware of.

for Christ's sakes man it's literally just starting out there's no need to critique it that hard like a nitpicking queer. im sure the author will improve as he continues making his 'ddit comic

Someone claiming to make a continuation of Ongezellig and not just a fan comic should expect and criticism like this, how else will it be on par with Massa to be allowed that title. Massa was a nitpicking queer, so should anyone who claims to continue his work.

That's what I'm gonna do, yes. The classmates I utilise very well. It is Vera's circle I initially struggled with since the Pilot only had her as faculty of whatever school they're in. My headcanon that I put into the text is Atheneum College Hageveld, and the more I read about the institution and the fact that the building in the Pilot resembles its seminary-like structure, I took it as the basis of my text to ground itself in the world I wrote. My AO3 placeholder has 26k words, but my current manuscript has about 60k words and counting. Since that A Faded Tulip fiktie (a love story between three couples, the main one being Maya and Sjef) has the same gimmick of both text and illustrations, I decided I will be doing that too and more. But of course I will be and am experiencing what Massa was going through, not in similar magnitudes, but so far my entire work is a one-man job. I really do want illustrations for it, but I need to see the text itself finished first.

I myself frame it as a continuation of sorts, using the six years and change since the Pilot as my timeline, but the themes are more mature yet I also was careful to make sure it retains Massa's original dark comedy with my own flare as a more imageboard-leaning individual. So far my beta readers are pointing out the density, and writerfail was frustrated with the lack of dialog tags—since I am writing my work in a literary register, shich is higher than fanfiction register—but if any of you could beta read my current work as it stands, I would love to be able to keep the continuation spirit as my contribution to this fandom

Sure, we'd all love to help a zaryan out by beta reading.

Thought it was good. Liked Henk decking the shit out of Kiki in the background

As a passing mention. If I put Maya in my story, she'd be ironically hogging all the attention. Coco is in it though, but I'm still writing her fully in a more recent addition.

It's decent. But in a "I'd read this on a lobotomised version of Dork Diaries" kind of way.
