mymy as a character fundamentally lacks any substance that could be yielded later on unless her character is drastically changed. characters that are just there for the sole sake of comedic relief arent really good to begin with, they dont REALLY have the same potential as others do, but i think the first zaryan was right in saying that her character just needing to time to develop. i dont know about all the she was meant to mock nationalists stuff doe.

Mymy always felt to be like a spectator in those businesses going between Maya and Coco, so Mymy was also likely made to help the viewer get into this story, somehow, idk I just typing in accordance to my impression. With Mymy the interaction between the main two sisters becomes more dynamic and less tense, imho, all because there's someone as distant from their personal conflict as that one who has just discovered the series. I don't really know how to express this, seemingly, simple idea in text, so try to get my point the right way uh.

Mymy would have played a much greater role as the embodiment of Maya's fears of what others say about her. Yes, she is much needed comic relief in what would otherwise be an extremely dark show if she were removed outright. However, her role as an outside antagonist to Maya, and the metaphorical devil on her shoulder, is a welcome addition in concert with the saintly Coco. If you're less generous to Maya, then Mymy is the audience's self insert when it comes to Maya's problems. Dismissive and filled with contempt. Her and Maya's relationship with tranime is especially poetic. For Maya, it's a form of easy escapism, for Mymy, it's an embarrassing reminder of her heritage that she's so desperate to avoid that she larps as a White person.
