Oldfags are scared of being judged for a perceived problem or to justify the typical sunk cost fallacy which has led countless 4chunkers to lose OVER two decades on a tranime imageboard made by mootykins.
This is why every so often the average oldfag will immediately start to complain, often when their initial interest in [thing] has waned. The oldfag takes pride in bringing others down because this justifies the time he has spent on a certain thing, by making him feel special, particular and/or more important, while more often than not being someone who would have been categorized as an "immigrant" at the time. The oldfag is a sort of developed parasite of the social internet, they are truly scared to be seen as committed to something and will gladly jump boats when they think this is more socially convenient for them. In this regard they are no different from normies. If for some reason everyone on the Internet decided that dog poop on a platter rights were untouchable, said person, even after doubting said statement initially, will eventually comply just to avoid dealing with the fact that they hold a different opinion. Doesn't matter that it's right or wrong, these people want to conform.
To avoid becoming an oldfag, is to avoid conforming and learning to face those awful truths you wish to project onto others
