Hello Zaryans! As you might be aware, we, like many other separate image boards, have experienced an abundance of child sexual abuse material being frequently posted on our site.
The removal of this illegal content is our top priority, and with the spam usually coming back under a different IP, we have found it difficult to put an end to it.
Fortunately, we may have found a solution to his problem. With the ImageBoard engine JSChan, we can deploy robots to remove this content and have posters of the content banned within very small timeframes.
However, we are not fully aware of its effects, and it may cause unwanted side effects when switching to the engine. Which is why we have come to ask you for your opinion. If the response from the community is an overall yes, then you should be prepared for a switch in the current IB engine. And from then on, we can pray that the anti-'p robots work, and with it, Zarty is saved.
Of course, we can continue normally (meaning staying on Vichan) and still try and find a way to settle the issue without switching to JSChan.
But Zoot wanted the choice to come from (You).
Have a great day, and God bless!

Yes, of course. I will first try to install jschan (luke's fork) on my linux laptop and see how it works. Then i shall attempt to do the same on the server host. If it fails, i will revert back the old files.

While the site is "down", I will give updates on telegram.

I'm not sure if anyone here can give you a meaningful answer. I looked into it more and it seems it sits on top of quite a tech stack. If you are able to install it all (which depends on what your hosting allows you to do) then the question becomes a matter of taste. I don't know what you mean by robots, I can assure you CSAM detection is not a solved problem, but the fact it's not PHP should help in writing some hashing feature. I tried with Zoot today to add the perceptual hashing algorithm and we failed, because some bizarre compatibility error in PHP composer tool prevents an image handling library to be installed. So at least this category of errors may be avoided.

CASM is the biggest problem, I'd gladly trade that for reduced functionality or inconvenience. I'd say go for it

 No.1736

Personally I would like to see the CSAM content get removed. If that means using JSChan, then use JSChan. The CSAM spam is a bigger problem than some inconveniences on the site.

You just need to wait until the database fills with more hashes, check the ban log to see what I mean.

i dont know anything about IB engines but i know the jarty uses JSChan and it didn't fix shit
i remember people were talking about implementing something in PHP to ban CP posters based on perceptual hashes of the pictures, has that been tried?

Yee, it works fine enough. I tried out jschan, but it's more complicated than i thought.
