 No.2910

I probably should've made this thread sooner but better late than never.
Just a thread to post resources in, some guides, tips, tricks, etc.
This thread does NOT have to be exclusively for drawfag resources, this can also extend to other forms of art like Music, Coding, Video Making, 3D, etc. I'm starting off with drawing guides since I know that's what most Zaryans are here for when sharing their own art.
And if there's one piece of advice I can give to anyone following these book guides, is don't focus too much on the words written. They can give context as to how a form is made sure, but it's all about visually seeing what the subject is and knowing the overall form for you to draw. No amount of words on a .pdf is gonna make you a better drawer if you don't start practicing mental visualizations of object forms and putting it to paper. Something something "if you can think it, you can draw it" as corny as it sounds.
<Shemmy space for me to copypaste their art resource thread here
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain 4th edition (This is for expanding on the thought process behind "mentally seeing objects to draw" instead of using words to make your artwork, recommended for newGODS): https://files.catbox.moe/i3nwh4.pdf

>Burne Hogarth - Dynamic Anatomy

>Burne Hogarth - Dynamic Figure Drawing

>Burne Hogarth - Drawing Dynamic Hands
https://annas-archive.org/md5/43c2abf0eb5c6d2fc4b8557878a7e8f7
Burne Hogarth's art in these books puts a lot of emphasis on the muscles. I recommend trying to copy the drawings from the book to try and figure out how it all works.
>Johannes Itten - The Art of Color
https://annas-archive.org/md5/ba343a1af315d13031cdea4edf7d8479
This book may be a slog to get through, as it is pretty objective about the subject. But that objectivity is what makes it worth giving it a read.
>James Gurney - Color and Light
https://annas-archive.org/md5/11951355f36d2e868dbcfef7c2aad2a3
This one describes a lot of specific situations concerning light, how it affects color, shadows and the picture in general.

4cuck sucks, but the resources /ic/fags provide definitely cannot be understated. Only go there for nabbing free drawing courses, don't bother with any attempt for discussion or criticism, it's all arguing over which art tutor is the biggest grifter over the other, among other standard 4nigger oldtroon posting.

Not a drawfag BUT if you are trying to get started someone in the topic, don't give him a list of books to read, no one is going to read >2000 pages just to draw a Mymy. Choose the single best one, or the chapters containing the actually useful information, and he may read it, this way you can be sure nothing will be read.

I'm AFK rn, but I thought for sure I copy and pasted the link as it was when it uploaded, but I'll pester zoot to replace it later when I get back. Alternatively you could look up the book on yandex and find it through links at your own discretion.

The image posters I attached in OP is exactly for this. It's cut up and organized and structured based on what you're looking to progress in your drawing skills. Anything by Loomis is typically the starting point for many artists, but at the end of the day you gotta pick up the pencil and just start drawing what you want and see.
Also
>no one is going to read >2000 pages just to draw a Mymy.
<just said not to focus too much on the words written, just draw.
>and he may read it, this way you can be sure nothing will be read.

Drawfag here. You don’t need these to learn to draw, easiest way to learn to draw is to draw.

Should I have put there a semicolon? It was intended to mean "the current way".

>Should I have put there a semicolon?
It's "should I have put a semicolon there?"
And if you meant "a better way to read it" you could've said something like "here are some bits you should focus on in drawing based on these books just so that someone wouldn't have to read literally every page from these books."
