I'm currently working on a visual novel inspired from Ongezellig. I'll post progress reports in this thread weekly on Sunday from now on as well as on my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@KudzuMedia)
10/20 Progress:
Began background art for protagonist's room and Vera's classroom (both unfinished) (pictured)
~230 added lines of character dialogue
Minimal progress on animation script
Character art, music, translations, and GUI customization not yet started
Notes:
I'd like to do as much of this as I can on my own since I find it to be a good opportunity to gain experience for professional projects in the future. However, I also don't want it to take several years, nor do I want to burn myself out on something I'm making for free. I'm confident I can do the background art and script on my own, but I am considering reaching out to others for character art and music, and I will definitely have to do so for translations. I still need to figure out how I want to approach it (basically my options are to commission people, collaborate with others who aren't strongly incentivized to follow through like commissioned people, or be super resourceful with how I'm spending my own time and energy). If you're interested in participating, though, let me know and I'll keep you in the back of my mind (even if its something I said I could probably do alone). I still intend on finding a way to do direct communication.

10/27 Progress:
Completed dialogue script for whole introductory chapter pending minor changes
Finished most of the sprite animations for introductory chapter (using very rough placeholder sprites) (also fixing bugs with the transformations has been a pain in the ass)
Partly finished with background art of path to school (still needs some work so I won't attach an image)

I've decided that I'll just be as resourceful as I can with this project so that it can actually realistically be finished without causing me to burn out and die, meaning a concentration on the script over tons of art pieces and sprites unless other people join in to help with those. I've also found some good free music libraries that I might tap into. Also, for communication, I don't really want to use email because of the potential for spam. My preference is the 'cord, but I know a lot of people here will never want to use it. Feedback/suggestions are appreciated, especially from those interested in participating in some way.
Although the project isn't ready for translations yet, I intend on finalizing the game chapter-by-chapter. So once I finalize the script for a chapter, I can begin writing the next chapter while translations for the previous one are made. Also, translators being able to provide additional pairs of eyes to review and provide feedback on the original script wouldn't hurt either.
It's so nice that VNZaryan grew to love the project's growing supporting group and subsequently accepted its help out of gratitude

there is already a discord role for /oc/, not sure what the criteria for getting an account are but i guess that showing zoot your previous work is enough

i'm not that guy. the purpose of the account is to allow you to namefag and coordinate your project without the risk of someone falseflagging and disrupting the discussion. that's actually the purpose of the board - coordinating oc projects. don't fall for the discord meme, nothing good has ever came from that site.

most Zarty people are incompatible with the “Ongezellig enjoyers” (i assume you mean people like Massadonië members). they come from opposite spectrums of the Internet and trying to get them to come together will cause nothing but drama.

We created those "Ongezellig enjoyers" since you know, we are the originals. In a perfect world every off-siter would rightfully see the effort that WE have put in and recognize it. Instead what we got are trannies and faggots thinking we destroyed the "previous" community

I’m definitely a late entry but massadone has called me a spy but even with differences some people can still come together and overlook that and be cool people that make friends over a Dutch cartoon.

We are so ingrained with Ongezellig that even /qa/ is present in the credits. This new off-siter community is relatively new and a byproduct of the post February 6th shilling we have done
Working together after giving up on conflict of preservation is always first stage of replacement of the old guard/group by the new group
Also the very first thread was posted on /co/ in 2018, the very first Zaryans were born there, but like 'teens immigrating to the sharty, it would be wrong to label the average /co/ user as a Zaryan and vice versa

it is true. the site was mostly shilled on the sharty. it was also shilled on /co/ indirectly, but was mostly seen as a sharty puppet (not everyone reacted negatively, but still).
i think there were a really few from /qa/ days, but have moved on (since a lot has happened to both zellig and the sharty)

as seen from this thread, cord was pushed mainly by small limited number of overly active offsiters, "ongezellig fans", and 4cuckers
I am fine with not getting official stuff, of course, it sucks. But this also means that shilling it is essentially a dead end, leaving only one sensible and viable option: making projects and actually enjoying the chuddy community. Something that most off-siters (if not all) struggle to understand. Just browse through r/zellig, and it's like night and day, people still under the illusion that shilling it now will have some sort of effect. The only consequence of it will be to bring in even more faggots, and tourists, people who couldn't give more of a shit right. Ongezellig made it this far because the chuddies behind it are actually passionate, no matter what happens

Yes I intend on this too. A server is not even close to necessary at this point either without separate artists/programmers/writers working together.
