Overboard

"Welcome back to Impractical Jokers, it seems Coco is tonight's big loser, so for her punishment we've granted her immortality by using an ancient Egyptian manuscript of prayers that was last read aloud during the Bronze Age; let's see how Coco fares out!"

At first everything seemed normal, Coco was only around 16 at the time and had anticipated living a long and healthy life anyway. She failed to see how being made immortal was a punishment at all, to cheat death seemed an incredible gift in her eyes.

The whole day went by with barely anyone involved giving any second thought to Coco's new eternal condition, then tomorrow passed, then a week. By now the jokers had returned to their usual antics on the show. Coco figured maybe what they told her was a joke, it seemed like one atleast, to tell a gullible person a lie that would make them wait around fruitlessly while also very on-edge, to Coco it had to have been some sort of classic prank that she never knew about.

A year had passed, Coco's birthday had passed also and she was 17 now, a lot of things had changed since; she moved up to 11th grade, her relationships were developing and so were her hobbies and interests, most of all she had completely forgotten about the ordeal with the Impractical Jokers. Another year went by, and another, by this point Coco had graduated school, and not long after that her friends and family went their own ways in life. Now Coco was 22 and searching for a job, eventually she'd find one that would stick with her for the next decade, it slowly became more tedious and boring for her, deeply exacerbating the discontent she already had with her life.

More and more of life's color and nuances seemed to slip right through her fingers as she matured, she was in her 30s now and all this time had never found anyone to fall in love with, the loneliness made her situation twice as bad. She began regularly attending therapy to cope with the lingering depression that constantly nagged her, some things helped, others less so, but it was a feeling she could never truly get rid of, and it only got worse as it persisted through her becoming older. By age 50 she had accepted the fact that she would never have a soulmate, there would never be anyone there to comfort Coco, no one to make her laugh, no one to love deeply, no one to spend eternity with and no tender children of her own to cherish with sincere and true love. The loneliness in her old age was agonizing, it bit at her constantly with a scalding venom, thinking of past brought nothing but sorrow, and as for the future nothing but dread.

Coco was approaching 80 now and tirelessly and bitterly waiting for the release of death to take her, she was preoccupied with thoughts of paradise in Heaven, and the crippling anxiety of either oblivion or damnation also being possibilities. She waited patiently and impatiently, but the advent of death never came, decades passed Coco by like seconds, before she knew it she was already beyond 100 years old, this is where things became unfathomably worse for her; by now she had already accepted that fact that everyone she knew and cared about had died long ago, her health was waning and insufferable migraines and panic attacks set in regularly, as did back pain and other plights. Her youth and vigor that she was known for by her dead peers had run completely dry, she was as frail as an old woman could be now, barely alive, soon barely even conscious.

The next century passed and Coco was still alive, she faced her fears and attempted suicide, but that's when the cruelest realization she ever had hit her, that that one-off 'joke' from a show she guest-starred on once nearly 2 centuries ago wasn't a lie, she had truly and verifiably gained immortality. She crushed her windpipe in an attempt to hang herself but carried on living of course, this added to the already excruciating plight of her old age-related health problems, like the worse sore throat possible, breathing of all things made sharp pains shoot all around her neck and down her back. Eventually it would heal, albeit very slowly and with insignificant effect.

Another 3 centuries passed, Coco loathed her continued existence even more now. She became a micro-celebrity for breaking the world record of 'World's longest living person', she hated the fame and everything about, but her mouth and her voicebox didn't work to tell anyone how she felt, she couldn't get violent either as she was too weak and fragile at this point. At 500 years of age Coco had basically turned into a living mummy, nature ran it's course and her body was shutting down, but no matter how much was lost she would still impossibly endure against all the odds and survive. Coco was basically a skeleton wrapped in cold, pale, brittle skin akin to a roast pig. She had already gone completely blind and her hearing seemed to be waning aswell, but nonetheless she absolutely hated everyone and everything. From what little she could make out of her surroundings it seemed like everyone was laughing at her while they carried on with their pompous lives.

The future of the world unraveled in the background of Coco's life, war and famine and disease swept the Earth while practically everything Coco ever knew and cared about crumbled to dust before her. The monotony of waiting centuries with barely anything happening (none of which being good,) was excruciating. Life seemed so pure once to her, it seemed to good, so rewarding, interesting, satisfying, joyous, all of that was gone in the blink of an eye, Coco had nothing worth being thankful for anymore, her life deteriorated into the worst living nightmare imaginable, her existence had become a cruel and bitter joke, everything she once cherished had disappeared. All she could do was wallow and drown in deep pit of sorrow and agony that perpetually dug itself deeper regardless of her efforts.

Eventually the Sun became a red giant and collided with the Earth, indifferently atomizing all of humanity with a searing blast of heat that devoured the entire earth. This killed everyone except Coco of course, who's immortal body remained unscathed. She floated around in the vacuum of space, watching all the stars disappear as the universe faded back into nothingness, perpetually dying as she suffocated from the pressure as her blood boiled and evaporated. She remained the last vestigial remnant of all creation, relegated to being nothing more than a cruel joke.
