>>34173 The Eastern Orthodox Church is the only genuine source of help escaping that headspace I've found. I was depressed all throughout my teenage years and right into young adulthood. I've only really started to change recently. God has guided me towards treating my executive dysfunction (another big contributor to my depression) and towards a healthier lifestyle and frame of mind. A lot of that has been through the "usual" stuff: exercise, constructive hobbies, and so on. But more than anything, the Church taught me to look at the world differently than I once did. I'm not afraid of aging or dying as I once was. I feel a lot less insecure about who I am. Old wounds don't sting as much. Above all, I don't want to -ACK anymore, since I have newer, healthier ways to deal with the pain. I didn't expect this to be multiple posts long. I don't want to present you with any longer a wall of text, so in summary, I guess the Orthodox Church has both given me the push I needed to start working through all this stuff and the tools to do so.
