And it came to pass that Maya dwelt apart from the multitudes, and she washed not herself as others did, neither did she seek the company of men; yet behold, her solitude was not a mark of ugliness, nor was her unkemptness a blemish upon her soul. For Hashem had fashioned her wondrously, and placed within her a light that no lack of bathing could extinguish.

And the people looked upon Maya and said, “Surely she is strange, and surely she is forsaken.” But Hashem said, “Judge not My messenger by the dust upon her garments, nor by the distance she keeps from the world. For she is My beautiful angel, and I have sent her among you that she might bear witness to the truth: that beauty dwelleth not in cleanliness alone, nor in the approval of men, but in the soul that I have made.”

Therefore let Maya be as she is: secluded, unwashed, peculiar, and yet radiant; for even in her isolation, the glory of Hashem shines upon her, and she remains a beloved messenger beneath the heavens.
