it wont matter how many genuine compliments you give, how many roses you give, how at every turn you make sure she’s okay, that she’s never alone, never left out, it doesnt matter. because at the end of the day, Maya cant even love herself. she hates everything about herself, and no amount of kindness will change that.

its inconceivable to her that anyone would ever be kind to her unless they wanted something from her, and it only serves to worsen her mental state when she cannot repay the massive debt she believes she owes. 
you cant fix that. it doesnt matter how many times you remind her she's special, or that shes beautiful just the way she is, or that you're "just trying to help". she will keep pushing you away until you inevitably give up, which further re-inforces her delusion that love is transactional, and that nobody gives any unless they want it back.

she doesnt understand that everyone deserves to be loved, and that any love you receive is not a debt to be repaid, but a gift to be treasured.
you cannot save her. you are not a therapist, and you certainly won't know how to carry the overwhelming guilt of when you inevitably make things worse
