You know, the thing that stuck out to me in the first days of my acquaintance with Ongezellig is that it was allegedly created by a "dutch nationalist" with right-wing beliefs. Everything I found in the show and about it made me more and more convinced of this each time: the edgy jokes, historical references, ethnic and dark humor, previous Sam's works, etc. Afterall, the author's attitude towards internationals also indicated that assumption was correct. See how cool it was to live in the illusion, wasn't it?

Btw, I was looking for Merel's account online one time and even found something like that. But the woman that I'd seen then looked much different from these images of Merel, although maybe my memory is just faulty, because I'd seen that in april 2024, literally a year ago. However, I would say that she was much more like the heroin version of Eva Vlaardingerbroek than... this. I know it's completely irrelevant information but I simply can't don't trust my memory, ok?
