Possibly Maya's procrastination and lack of motivation is because she is already beginning to develop suicidal thoughts, therefore she does not show interest in her future since according to her she will not have one. She unconsciously sabotages herself for this, hoping that one day she will find the courage to end her suffering. Also, according to the Mayamails, she possibly has cuts on her wrists under those sleeves as the beginning of her tragic outcome.
