In previous versions of Mymy's background I found it too busy with colors and patterns that took away from Mymy instead of grounding her and keeping her in focus. So I made the color pallet darker and simpler to contrast with the brightness and pixeled complexity of Mymy. You might find value in my anecdote for making the background, perchance.
