If you want a modern browser use librewolf. You can also customize the tor browser to not go through TOR and just use it for its strong anti fingerprinting but I have no experience with it
For search engines 4get is decent but I self host my own searx instance and just use that.

For vpns you should only use mullvad or just tor, I have a few vps that I use for vpns as well. But I would only use them for browsing.
I use cockli for throwaways. Self host for anything slightly more important than whenever I use a temp. And tuta for anything actually important like personal stuff.
Of course there's no point caring about this shit if you still use windows or stock android or whatever the fuck. I use a librebooted x230, usually with gentoo with blobs in the kernel removed, and pure Foss on grapheneos. I have near zero issues with this setup and have been using it for many years now
